What Is The Menopause?

The menopause is a transition which signals the end of a woman's monthly fertility cycle, and in order to have a smooth passage through it, our bodies need to be in really good shape. Most of the symptoms experienced occur whilst in the peri-menopausal stage, which means around the time of the menopause.

Key Symptoms

There are three main groups of symptoms that occur at the time of the menopause, oestrogen withdrawal, physical and mental symptoms, but only one group is directly related to the falling oestrogen levels. Hot flushes and night sweats are the two most common symptoms in menopausal women. The other two groups of symptoms were more to do with dietary and lifestyle inadequacies.
