Obviously Not a Candidate for HRT

Question for Maryon Stewart:
I am a 49 year old in desperate need of help to overcome the symptoms of menopause my doctor has confirmed I am in menopause but I am in the high risk category as my mother & grand-mother both had double mastectomies. I have tried a few herbal applications but the did not help me and quite frankly I can not afford to keep paying out to try new ones . I have severe hot sweats to the point of dizzy spells approx. 15-20 per day and more severe at night, to the point of changing bed linen. I'm in my 4th year of this and it is getting me down. Is there something available to help me as I'm getting desperate?

Maryon's Answer:
It sounds like you have had four years of hell and you are obviously not a candidate for HRT because of your family history of breast cancer. Almost nothing is worse than sleep deprivation and I imagine that having so many hot sweats at night makes it impossible to get a decent stretch of sleep. The most clinically tried and tested supplement available, which has shown to control hot flashes, night sweats and vaginal dryness, and does not cause any adverse effects on breast tissue, is Novogen Red Clover. I would suggest that you take one a day whilst at the same time making some dietary changes and making time for a session of formal relaxation each day. You should ideally be consuming three servings of soya products each day, as they are a rich source of naturally occurring oestrogen, throughout the day in order to satisfy the oestrogen receptor sites within the cells. Try having some soya milk with your cereal in the morning, a soya yogurt or smoothie in the afternoon and perhaps a sandwich made with Burgen Bread, which contains both soya and linseeds. You will find menu plans, simple recipes and further suggestions in my new book beat menopause naturally which is available from www.beatmenopausenaturally.com.
